This Thursday (1st of November) vegans around the world will celebrate World Vegan Day. The yearly celebration was established by Louise Wallis (then Chair of The Vegan Society in the UK) to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the organization and the coining of the terms: ‘vegan’ and ‘veganism’.

All Sknfed products are vegan friendly and we are supporting every bit of this annual event. To honor the occasion, we have decided to explore and share a little bit more about the vegan lifestyle.

The concept

According to The Vegan Society , veganism is ‘ a way of living which seeks  to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose”.

Why?

The main reason why people decide to go vegan is to avoid the use and exploitation of animals. But apart from that many are attracted by the benefits that the lifestyle offers to environment and health.

What?

Vegans follow plant-based diet and although you might think it means only eating fruits & vegetables, it is much more varied than that. These days it is much easier to go vegan as you can easily find a vegan version of pretty much any food you can think of: cheese, pizza, donuts or even ice cream!

How?

If you think the vegan lifestyle might be for you and would like to try a healthier and more compassionate way of living you can sign up for a 30-Day Vegan Pledge via The Vegan Society. The Vegan Pledge helps over a thousand people each month to not only go vegan but to stay vegan with its regularly updated tips and support.

And in order to really adhere to the ’vegan rules’, it is important to pay close attention to other products that you use (like cosmetics) and make sure  they are produced in line with vegan beliefs.

Here at Sknfed we guarantee that none of our products are tested on animals and are completely cruelty free. You can stay assured that when you buy and use our products you are getting all the benefits without compromising the welfare of animals.

There are lots of different reasons why you may choose to go vegan. Veganism offers fantastic health benefits and can really help the environment but remember a big lifestyle change can only be sustained if you really believe in your decision and reasons behind it.
